Due to nearby residential areas, Siaogang Airport is not a 24-hour airport. [Note: The original text mentioned "Click here for details," 

• Domestic Terminal Operating Hours: Daily 05:00 AM to 21:30 PM (may be extended depending on flight schedules).
• International Terminal Operating Hours: Daily 04:20 AM to 24:00 (Midnight) (may be extended depending on flight schedules).

After passengers from the last flight have departed, airport police will clear the terminal. Passengers are not permitted to remain inside the terminal building.

Important Note: If you arrive on a late-night flight, you cannot stay overnight at the airport!

The earliest departures from Siaogang Airport are typically China Airlines CI166 at 07:00 to Kansai (KIX) and EVA Air BR172 at 06:55 to Incheon (ICN). For passengers taking these early flights, please plan your arrival time at the airport carefully. The International Terminal doors do not open until 04:20 AM. Arriving at 3:30 AM will mean waiting outside. Personal Opinion: Honestly, as a Taiwanese person, figuring out the bus routes takes some time, let alone for foreigners. That's why I personally never take the bus from Siaogang Airport. The MRT and pre-booked car services are my only two choices. 🤣🤣🤣

Where is the Siaogang Airport MRT Station?

The red arrow indicates the path after passport control towards baggage claim. Once you have your luggage and pass through customs inspection, you'll enter the Welcome (Arrivals) Hall. Telecom service counters (for SIM cards) are typically to the front-left. If you don't need a SIM card, you can immediately turn left and exit the terminal building.

After exiting the terminal, you will see elevators ahead [implied red box marker]. Go straight towards them and take the elevator down to the B3 level, which is the MRT station level. After exiting the elevator, keep walking straight ahead to reach the MRT station entrance gates.

If you don't have an iPASS or EasyCard, you can use a compatible credit card for contactless payment directly at the gates, or purchase a single-journey token from the ticket vending machines. Note: The vending machines typically only accept smaller bills (up to NT$500 maximum).

The Kaohsiung MRT currently consists mainly of the Red Line and the Orange Line, along with the circular Green Light Rail Line (LRT). Kaohsiung International Airport station (R4) is on the Red Line. Compared to subway systems in Japan or Korea, it's much simpler! 😂😂😂

Where to Buy iPASS / EasyCard at Siaogang Airport?

Kenting Express Bus Counter: Located in the Arrivals Hall, next to Gate 5. You can purchase EasyCards here, add value (top-up), and process refunds.

• Location: Look to your front-left as you enter the main Arrivals Hall from customs.
• Hours: 09:30 AM - 19:30 PM

FamilyMart Convenience Store: Sells iPASS cards and allows top-ups. Getting a refund for the card deposit here can be complicated, so it's generally not recommended for short-term visitors!

• Hailing Method: Airport regulations require passengers to use the official airport taxi queue located outside Gate 1.
• Boarding Location: International Terminal, 1st Floor, near Exit Gate 1.
• Capacity: Most taxis are standard 5-seater sedans, fitting a maximum of about two 24-inch suitcases in the trunk. If you have more than 2 people with significant luggage, you might need two taxis. Some SUV-style taxis might accommodate 3 passengers and 3 suitcases.

For me, a pre-booked private transfer is the most comfortable way, especially when traveling with elderly parents or young children. It's worth spending a bit extra to avoid stress, reduce potential arguments, and conserve energy. A major advantage is that the transfer company will flexibly adjust the pick-up time if your flight is early or delayed, as this is beyond your control.

A private car can take you directly to your hotel or residence, and you can arrange transfers to Kenting, Tainan, or other destinations. If the price is acceptable, it's very convenient. For groups, splitting the cost might even be comparable to or cheaper than taking the MRT and then transferring to the High-Speed Rail (HSR) for longer distances!

• Fare: Airport to Kaohsiung city center typically ranges from NT$1000 - NT$1500 (depending on exact location, requested add-ons like baby seats, and vehicle type).
• Booking Method: Book in advance online through rental/transfer companies or platforms like KKday or Klook.
